Program of the 19th Rovinj Regatta of Traditional Boats

19th dedication to the sea and tradition - many novelties at the Rovinj regatta

The Rovinj regatta of traditional boats with lug and lateen sail is our most important annual event, providing a unique experience of Rovinj-Rovigno.

On June 14, the traditional sails of the Adriatic will flutter in front of our city for the nineteenth time, and with a rich accompanying program from June 11 to 15, we will convey to visitors its deep and emotional connection with the sea.

Here are some highlights from the program, which brings a lot of novelties and content for visitors of all generations.

The Rovinj Regatta - more than 40 traditional wooden boats from Istria, Kvarner, Slovenia and Italy will demonstrate their skills in sailing with lug and lateen sails, and a new attraction will be a Sunday non-competitive sailing to the port of San Pelagio.

“Peîci marinièri” - we have prepared a number of new workshops for little sailors, where they will get to know the Regatta boats, master the skills of fishing, sailing, making sailor knots, compasses, small batanas, and painting sails, and try their hand at the wonderfully blue cyanotype technique.

“Viràda in pignàta!” - don't miss an even richer festival of traditional gastronomy where the regatta participants show off their culinary skills, and the audience has the opportunity to taste specialties from their homeland.

“Malene barke i velike priče" - an attractive exhibition of ship models and model makers from Croatia, Italy, and Slovenia brings more than 30 models of traditional boats, but also the opportunity to meet their creators.

“Udùri da cà∫a” - a new program dedicated to Istrian authenticity and local producers who will present their stories and products to visitors.

"Sails of the Mediterranean: International Heritage Dialogues" - a roundtable discussion on the significance and value of main and lateen sails will bring interesting interlocutors to the Rovinj "Youth Center".

Mark the dates from June 11th to 15th in your calendar, get ready for some more surprises and see you in Rovinj-Rovigno!
